Mona Salamat Kennedy has extensive work experience in finance and strategy roles. Mona is currently serving as the Chief Financial Officer at Open Farm Pet since January 2023. Prior to this, they held the position of Chief Financial Officer at Roots from January 2020 to January 2023.
From 2017 to 2019, Mona worked at Indigo as the Vice President of Finance, where they played a vital role in developing a strong financial planning and analysis team. Mona also led the reconstruction of the cross-functional capital investment process and team, resulting in effective decision-making.
Before joining Indigo, Mona worked at Maple Leaf Foods Inc in various roles. From 2012 to 2014, they served as the Director of Trade Investment Strategy Execution, where they implemented a new approach for managing trade investment and led negotiations with the company's largest customers. From 2010 to 2011, they held the position of Director of Strategy, providing leadership in corporate strategy assignments and leading cross-functional project teams.
Earlier in their career, Mona worked at Maple Leaf Foods Inc in roles such as Director of Planning and Analysis from 2006 to 2008, Manager of Planning and Analysis from 2005 to 2006, and Financial Analyst from 2003 to 2005. Prior to their time at Maple Leaf, they worked as a Financial Analyst at Bombardier Aerospace from 2001 to 2003.
Mona Salamat Kennedy has an MBA in Business Administration and Management from INSEAD. Mona also holds a B Comm degree in Business from Queen's University. Prior to their university education, they attended the Farzanegan School, which is part of the Iranian National Organization for the Development of Exceptional Talents, located in Tehran, Iran. In terms of additional certifications, Mona Salamat Kennedy is a CPA from the Certified Management Accountants (CMA) institution and has completed the Canadian Securities Course from the Canadian Securities Institute.
