Javier de la Torre is an accomplished leader in the field of geospatial technology and biodiversity informatics. Currently serving as the Founder and Chief Strategy Officer at CARTO since October 2012, Javier oversees long-term strategy and business development. Additionally, Javier holds roles as the Founder and CEO of the Open Geospatial Consortium since April 2021, Director at the Tierra Pura Foundation, and Patron at Vizzuality. Previous experience includes founding and leading Vizzuality, where the company specialized in developing applications for biodiversity data, and contributing to standards development at TDWG. Academically, Javier has an Agriculture Engineering degree from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, furthered studies in Biodiversity Informatics at Freie Universität Berlin, and completed executive education in Innovation and Growth at Stanford University.
