Nathan Koenig

Chief Technical Officer at Open Robotics

Before Open Robotics, Nate was a research engineer at Willow Garage where he conducted human robot interaction studies and led development of the Gazebo open source robot simulator. After earning a B.S. in Computer Science from Rochester Institute of Technology, he took a one year hiatus at Xerox before joining the USC Interaction Lab. Alongside his graduate studies at USC, Nate co-founded the Gazebo project in 2001 with the goal of simulating high-fidelity environments to aid in the development of robotic algorithms and systems. Nate earned a PhD in Computer Science at USC with a thesis focused on Bayesian approaches to Learning from Demonstration and improved interfaces for human robot communication.
