Lilia Caiado Couto

Lilia Caiado Couto is a seasoned professional in climate economics and finance, currently serving as a Program Manager for Economic and Climate Prosperity and Development and Climate Finance at Open Society Foundations since October 2023. In addition to this role, Lilia is an Honorary Research Fellow at University College London, focusing on climate economics and finance. Previous experience includes a Research Fellow position at Chatham House, contributing to policy engagement on the impact of climate change on the International Economic Architecture, and a Chapter Scientist role for the IPCC Assessment Report. Lilia has also worked as a Freelance Economist at Vivid Economics, a Climate CoLab Fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and as an advisor at the World Business Council for Sustainable Development Brazil. Holding a PhD in Economics of Energy and Climate Change from UCL and advanced degrees in Energy and Environmental Policy and Economics, Lilia possesses a robust academic and professional background in the field.
