Akila Welihinda

Akila Welihinda is an experienced technology professional currently working in Supercomputing at OpenAI since March 2022. Prior to this role, Akila served as a Software Engineer at Databricks from 2019 to 2021, contributing to the Serverless and Clusters teams with a focus on compute orchestration technologies such as autoscaling, VM lifecycle management, and resource pooling. Previous experience includes a role as a Software Engineer at Facebook from 2017 to 2019, where Akila worked on an internal DAG scheduler and contributed to a container management system. Additionally, Akila completed internships as a Software Engineer Intern at Twitter in 2016, working with the Metrics & Experimentation team, and at Nvidia in 2015, supporting the GPU Validation team. Akila earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from UCLA, graduating in 2017.
