Shane Ngai has diverse work experience in the aviation industry. Shane began their career as an Asia Pacific Support Engineer at Elbit Vision Systems Ltd. in 2011 and later worked as a Technical Officer in the Airline Support Team at Rolls-Royce. In 2016, they joined Hong Kong Airlines as an Assistant Engineer in Technical Service, focusing on structures. Shane then transitioned to Cavotec as an Airports Field Service Engineer in 2017. The following year, Shane worked at Cathay Pacific Airways as a Project Support Engineer in the Engineering Warehouse. In 2019, they took on the role of Business Improvement Leader at HAECO before returning to Cathay Pacific Airways as an Assistant Manager in Group Operational Safety and later in Group Safety, specifically focusing on FRMS & SMS. Shane then joined HK Express as an Assistant Manager in Safety Management System. Currently, Shane is a Customer Success Manager in Flight Operations at OpenAirlines.

Shane Ngai has a diverse education history. From 2007 to 2010, they attended the University of Hertfordshire and obtained a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) in Aerospace Engineering. In 2020, they began their studies at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, pursuing a Juris Doctor (JD) degree in Law at the CUHK Faculty of Law. Shane is expected to complete their JD program in 2024.

During their academic journey, Shane also pursued various certifications. In November 2018, they obtained the Advanced Open Water Diver and Enriched Air Diver certifications from PADI. Furthermore, in August 2014, they achieved the Pleasure Vessel Operator Grade 2 certification from the Marine Department of Hong Kong.

Shane has also sought further training in the field of safety management for airlines. From 2022 to 2023, they completed the Safety Management for Airlines Diploma program at IATA Training. In 2023, they focused on flight data analysis for airlines and also completed two programs related to safety management systems (SMS) for airlines.
