Sabyasachi Barik

Photonics Design Engineer at OpenLight

Sabyasachi Barik has a background in photonics engineering. Sabyasachi began their career in 2013 as a Summer Intern at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research. From 2014 to 2021, they worked at the University of Maryland as a Graduate Research Assistant, where they developed the first topological nano-photonic waveguide, modeled and numerically simulated topological optical circuits and integrated photonic devices, and acted as a Teaching Assistant. In 2015, they also worked as a Researcher at the Joint Quantum Institute and a Graduate Research Assistant at the Institute for Research in Electronics and Applied Physics (IREAP). In 2020, they worked as a Research Intern at Facebook. Currently, they are employed as a Photonic Design Engineer at OpenLight.

Sabyasachi Barik has a comprehensive educational background. Sabyasachi obtained a Research Doctorate in Engineering Physics/Applied Physics from the University of Maryland between 2014 and 2020. Prior to this, they earned a Master's degree in Physics from the National Institute of Science Education and Research between 2009 and 2014. Additionally, they have obtained four certifications from Lumerical Inc. and LinkedIn, including a FEEM Solver Course, Learning MATLAB, Python Quick Start, and Python for Students.
