Rafferty Jackson has a diverse and extensive work experience. Starting in 1998, they worked as an Associate at Preston Gates and Ellis, where they were involved in opening the San Francisco office and had a secondment to WebTV Networks, a Microsoft subsidiary. From 1999 to 2003, they served as the Associate General Counsel at Macromedia, overseeing global legal operations and managing a team of attorneys and negotiators. In 2004, they joined Ubiquity Software PLC as the General Counsel and Company Secretary, leading their legal and people functions and successfully leading a $40M initial public offering. From 2007 to 2013, they worked as the Vice President and General Counsel at VF Outdoor, Inc., responsible for the performance and support of various brands. Rafferty then served as the Executive Vice President, General Counsel, and Company Secretary at Beats by Dr. Dre from 2013 to 2015. Since 2015, they have been working as the Principal at Jack Industries, where they help deep tech founders and leaders tell complex stories to broader audiences. Additionally, they have held advisory and director positions at various organizations, including Xona Space Systems, New Vista Capital, and the Muscle Shoals Music Foundation. In 2021, they became a Non-Executive Director at Opteran.
Rafferty Jackson has a diverse education history. In 1987, they obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree with Honors in History from UC Santa Barbara. Following their undergraduate studies, they pursued a Doctor of Law (J.D.) degree from the University of California, College of the Law, San Francisco (formerly UC Hastings), which they completed in 1995.
In recent years, Rafferty has continued to enhance their knowledge and skills through various certificate programs. In 2016 and 2017, they attended the UCLA Anderson School of Management, where they earned an Executive Program in Management Certificate, focusing on Business Management and Leadership.
