Ching-Jen Tang

Ching-Jen (CJ) Tang is a Chief R&D Scientist at OptiCool Technologies since May 2023, focusing on pumped refrigerant technologies for cooling data centers. Prior to this role, CJ was a Principal Mechanical Engineer at Plug Power from January 2022 to May 2023 and a Model-Based Design Staff Engineer at Carrier HVAC from November 2020 to January 2022, where responsibilities included dynamic system modeling and research on oil retention and cyclic degradation in vapor compression systems. CJ's career at GE from June 2006 to May 2020 featured leadership as a Senior Engineer/Project Lead, successfully developing advanced heat pump technology and securing significant funding. CJ holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Mechanical Engineering from Penn State University.
