Justin Surgent

Justin Surgent has extensive experience in marketing and communications. Justin currently works at Optikos Corporation as the Marketing Communications Manager, where they are responsible for the company's integrated marketing communications plan, branding, and PR. Their duties include copywriting and editing of marketing materials, photography, advertising creation and management, video production and editing, web and graphic design, email creation and deployment, social media management, tradeshow support, CRM maintenance, and website design and development.

Prior to their current role, Justin was a Marketing Communications Specialist at Optikos Corporation. Justin has also worked at Simplify Compliance as a Senior Marketing Coordinator, Team Lead, and at BLR as a Marketing Copywriter/Coordinator. In these positions, they handled copywriting, editing, marketing collateral creation, social media content creation, event staffing, advertising, and web and graphic design.

Justin's early career included roles at EPS Communications as an Assistant Editor, Technology Business Research as a Marketing Coordinator, and the Newburyport Daily News as a Freelancer. Justin also worked as a Freelance Copywriter at Pure Incubation and had various roles at The Massachusetts Daily Collegian, including Photo Editor, Copyeditor, and Assistant Arts Editor.

Through their diverse work experience, Justin has developed strong skills in marketing communications, copywriting, editing, photography, advertising, web and graphic design, social media management, and event planning.

Justin Surgent's education history includes a mix of graduate and undergraduate studies. Justin completed their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Journalism at the University of Massachusetts Amherst from 2010 to 2014. Prior to that, they attended Amesbury High School from 2006 to 2010.

After obtaining their bachelor's degree, Justin pursued further education in the field of design. Justin first earned a Certificate in Graphic Design and Digital Imaging from the University of Massachusetts Lowell, where they studied from 2017 to 2019. Additionally, they obtained another Certificate in Web Design from the same institution, attending from 2017 to 2018.

Justin's educational journey also includes pursuing a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree. Justin pursued this degree at the University of New Hampshire-Manchester from 2023 to 2026.

Furthermore, in 2015, Justin obtained an Inbound Certification from HubSpot, which enhanced their knowledge and skills in inbound marketing strategies.
