Javier A. Garcia Sedano

Javier A. Garcia Sedano has over 30 years of professional experience in the industry. In 1988, they began their career as a Project Manager at Iberdrola Engineering and Construction, where they specialized in Artificial Intelligence, Fuzzy Logic, Inductive Machine Learning and Evolutionary Computation. Javier A. was the leader of AI applications in Heat Rate Real Time optimization of Power Plants and R&D Project Manager of AI applications to performance optimization and diagnosis of Power Generation plants. In 1998, they moved to ÁLAMO SISTEMAS as Head of Technology Development Division, where they coordinated Research and Development Projects and developed innovative software e-Business and e-Learning applications for Internet Platforms. In 2001, they joined Grupo ICA as Manager of Development and Innovation - New Technologies and was in charge of software development projects for Internet and Mobile applications. That same year, they also joined the European Commission as an External Expert Evaluator & Reviewer of RTD Projects. In 2002, they were recruited by ORMAZABAL Industrial Group to become Coordinator of R&D projects in its high-tech IT spin-off, SEMANTIC SYSTEMS, and was in charge of sophisticated software development projects based on the application of Semantic-based Knowledge Systems for Industrial Product Engineering and Configuration applications. In 2007, they moved to Tecnalia Research & Innovation as Leader of Cognitive Technologies Research Team, where they founded and led a Research Group in Fundación LEIA focused in Artificial Intelligence research and applications for the optimization of industrial processes. In 2008, they founded and became the Chief Executive Officer of OPTIMITIVE Group, in charge of building the scientific foundations of the technology, business relations, executive management, business development and technology development strategies. Javier A. is the author of patented "Skill Composition" technology, successfully implemented in the company's main products, OPTIBAT RTO and OPTIBAT Studio. In 2019, they became an Invited Lecturer in Machine Learning Techniques at Universidad del País Vasco/Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea, and in 2021 they joined Digital Capability Center Aachen as a Guest Lecturer in Industrial Machine Learning.

Javier A. Garcia Sedano received their Licentiate in Physics in Electronics and Automation from the Universidad del País Vasco/Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea in 1988. In 2019, they attended the IESE Business School to develop their leadership competences. In 2020, they enrolled in the Advanced Management Program (AMP) at IE Business School for Senior Executive Education. In 2021, they attended the IESE Business School for the High Performance Board Member program. Javier A. is also scheduled to attend the IESE Business School in 2022 for Communication Skills That Empower Your Leadership. In addition, they obtained an Executive Education Certificate from IESE Business School in June 2022 and an Advanced Management Program (AMP) - Executive Education from IE Business School Executive Education in September 2021.
