Senior/Lead Solutions Engineer / Management Consultant at OPTiMO Information Technology

Bernie Karlowicz has worked in the technology and consulting industries since 1993. Bernie began their career at Sears Logistics Services as a Lead/Supervisor, where they were responsible for the maintenance and management of the facility, as well as the development and maintenance of management and inventory reports. In 1998, they moved to GUARD Insurance Group as a Programmer/Analyst II, where they were promoted three times in four years. In this role, they upgraded legacy system software, designed and implemented system software security, and created batch processing software. In 2003, they joined Mercer Insurance Group as the Manager of Analytics & Systems, where they advised the CIO and senior management on strategic and/or tactical opportunities, managed staff, and led major process, system, maintenance, support, and integration changes. In 2011, they became the Manager of Systems Development at United Fire Group, where they had a hands-on technical implementation role as well as management oversight and vendor relationship management. In 2014, they joined TMG Health as the Assc. Director of Projects at Cognizant, and then as the Director of Enterprise Application Services & Information Management, where they led an organization of 40+ FTEs and championed and led the SDLC transformation initiative. In 2020, Bernie became the Owner/CEO of KARPAR Consulting, LLC, providing management consulting for architecture, software development, information management, microservices, and cloud. Most recently, in 2021, Bernie joined OPTiMO Information Technology as a Senior/Lead Solutions Engineer/Management Consultant, working with US Government, DHS, and CISA on delivery of high performance azure cloud, microservices, and data warehousing deliverables.

Bernie Karlowicz obtained a B.S. in Computer Science with a minor in Mathematics from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania between 1992 and 1996. Bernie then attended Penn State University from 1990 to 1992, studying Engineering and General Studies. In 2008, Bernie earned an MBA in Business from Wilkes University. In addition, Bernie has obtained certifications in Computing for Data Analysis from Coursera in 2014, AINS 21 - Property and Liability Insurance Principles from the Insurance Institutes of America, Certifications in Java development, Delphi development, and ETL data tools, and Intro to Property & Liability Insurance from the Insurance Institutes of America.
