Tom Thayer

Tom Thayer has a diverse work experience spanning over three decades. Tom is currently the Chief Operating Officer for US Operations at OptoElectronix Inc. In this role, they are responsible for sales, marketing, customer support, application engineering, and regulatory and certification agency interfaces.

Prior to their current position, Tom was the Vice President/Chief Marketing Officer at OptoElectronix Inc., where they led the design and manufacturing of solid state lighting solutions. Tom also played a key role in concurrent engineering and patent development.

Before joining OptoElectronix Inc., Tom established their own firm, Thayer and Associates, in 2004. As the owner of the firm, they provided marketing and strategic consulting services to high-tech businesses. Some of their notable clients included Hewlett Packard, Quindi, and Novodynamics. Tom'swork involved improving profitability, assessing competition, and developing go-to-market strategies.

Tom also held leadership positions at Covad and Xerox. At Covad, they served as the Vice President/General Manager and successfully refocused the organization from sales to low-value consumers to business customers. This resulted in a significant reduction in customer acquisition expenses. At Xerox, Tom held various roles including Vice President/General Manager of the Omnifax Division, Vice President of Marketing for Xerox Digital Desktop Business Unit, Manager of Western Region Channel Sales, and Director of Channel Development and Strategy. Tom achieved significant revenue growth, led successful acquisitions, and developed distribution strategies.

Tom began their career at Hewlett Packard in 1983. During their time there, they held the position of Manager of Channel Marketing and played a pivotal role in developing and implementing new distribution channels and programs.

Tom Thayer has a diverse educational background. Tom pursued their MS and BA degrees in Freshwater Ecology, Zoology, and Geography from the University of New Hampshire, from 1969 to 1974. Later, from 1980 to 1983, they attended Regis College, where they obtained an MBA degree with a focus on Finance and Accounting.
