Jim Taylour has extensive work experience in the field of workplace design and ergonomics. Jim began their career as a Product Design Engineer at Steelcase from 1987 to 1993. Jim then worked as an Ergonomist at Back In Action - The Back Shop from 1995 to 1998. In 1998, they joined Orangebox as the Head of Design and Wellbeing, where they continue to work. Additionally, in 2007, they became an Associate Director at SIMPLIFY ERGONOMICS LIMITED. In 2016, they briefly served as a Mr at WORKTECH Academy.

Jim Taylour has an extensive education history. Jim began their academic journey in 1983 by enrolling at Nottingham Trent University, where they pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in Furniture Design. Furthermore, they have pursued certification as a "Chartered Ergonomist" from the Chartered Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors, although the specific dates of obtaining this certification are not available.
