Melissa Barker

Melissa Barker has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Melissa began their career as a Community Development Director at the American Cancer Society, where they coordinated special events and developed promotional materials. Melissa then worked as a Financial Analyst at DePuy Orthopaedics, where they analyzed expenses, managed balance sheet accounts, and developed budgets. Melissa later joined The Oliver Group as a Market Research Analyst, conducting market research, data analysis, and managing feedback and assessment projects. Melissa then transitioned to Norton Healthcare as a Program Coordinator in Employee Experience, managing a budget for employee retention programs and developing engagement strategies. Melissa also served on the Board of Directors for the Kentuckiana Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Melissa continued their career at OrthoIndy as a Human Resources Recruiter/Generalist, where they managed recruitment and retention programs and trained leadership on retention initiatives. Melissa then joined Indiana University Health as a Human Resources Consultant, supporting the corporate culture and vision through HR and staffing services. Most recently, Melissa worked at Orbis Education, where they held multiple roles including Human Resources Business Partner, Human Resources Manager, and Director of Human Resources. In these roles, they implemented HR programs, provided organizational consulting, managed employee relations and performance management, and oversaw the HRIS system. Currently, Melissa works at Grand Canyon Education, Inc. in a Human Resources role.

Melissa Barker attended Butler University from 1996 to 2000, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance. Following their undergraduate studies, Melissa continued their education with a focus on continuing education. Melissa obtained a Certificate in Strategic Human Resources Business Partner from the Josh Bersin Academy in July 2021.
