Steve Carlsen

Steve Carlsen is a board member at Orchid Insurance. Steve previously served as chair of ProSight Specialty Insurance from July 2010 to June 2021. Prior to that, they were director of Hagerty (U.S.) from April 2010 to May 2015. Carlsen has also served as director of Endurance from January 2001 to March 2017. Steve was one of the company's co-founders and served as its chief underwriter and COO from November 2001 until June 2006. Carlsen has also served as a director of two UK subsidiaries (Endurance Worldwide Insurance Ltd. and Endurance at Lloyd's) until the sale of the company to SOMPO in 2017. Prior to joining Endurance, Carlsen was COO of Direct Response Corp. from January 1999 to December 2001 and Chief Underwriter of CAT Limited from January 1994 to December 1997. Steve began their career in 1986 as Vice President - Property Treaty of NAC Reinsurance Corp.

Steve Carlsen has a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from Cornell University and a Doctor of Philosophy in Economics from Fordham University.
