Peter Harmer is a Senior Associate Research Scientist at the Oregon Research Institute, a position held since January 2002. Previously, Peter served as a Professor in the Department of Exercise & Health Science at Willamette University from September 1990 to May 2022. Peter also contributed to the sports community as a member of the Medical Commission for the Federation Internationale d'Escrime from January 2000 to December 2016 and as the Chief Medical Officer for US Fencing from 2000 to 2013. Peter's educational background includes a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology & Biometry from Oregon Health & Science University, a Master of Education in Special Education, a PhD in Human Movement Studies, and a Master of Science in Sports Medicine, all from the University of Oregon, along with a Diploma of Teaching in Elementary Education from Riverina College of Advanced Education.
