Claudio Jolowicz

Claudio Jolowicz has a strong background in software engineering and has worked in various roles throughout their career. Claudio is currently a Systems Engineer at Cloudflare, where they started in 2022. Prior to this, Claudio worked as a Book Author for O'Reilly Media, where they wrote a book about modern Python developer tooling based on the Hypermodern Python article series and project template.

Before O'Reilly Media, Claudio worked at Cyren for over a decade, starting in 2008. During their time there, they held the role of Software Engineer and was responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining high-performance C++ libraries, backend services, and on-prem products for Cyren's email security products. Claudio also contributed to the development of an async I/O implementation in C++ with an event loop and network stack, which significantly improved Cyren's anti-spam product's performance.

In addition to their work in software engineering, Claudio has also pursued their passion for music. From 2011 to 2020, they worked as a Studio and Tour Musician, collaborating with over 100 artists and touring across 24 countries. Claudio has performed at notable events such as the Roskilde Festival and on the Morgenmagazin TV show.

Earlier in their career, Claudio worked as a Research Associate at Fraunhofer FOKUS, where they conducted research in the field of Artificial Intelligence and Law. Claudio was involved in an EU research project and explored the use of ontology-based rule systems for helping companies fulfill reporting requirements. Prior to that, Claudio worked as a Software Engineer at BytePlay Ltd., where they were responsible for the backend architecture of a real estate search engine and contributed to its scalability and success during its initial funding round.

Claudio Jolowicz holds a Master's Degree in Computing Science from Imperial College London, which they completed in 2004. Prior to that, they obtained a 1st State Examination in Law from the University of Hamburg in 2002.
