Federico Lucifredi has a diverse work experience spanning various industries. Federico worked at IBM as a Product Management Director starting in 2023. Prior to that, they held the same role at Red Hat from 2015 to 2023, where they were responsible for overseeing Ceph petabyte-scale storage products. At Red Hat, they successfully managed product direction, positioning, feature planning, and roadmap for multiple release cycles of Red Hat Ceph Storage, resulting in significant revenue growth.
Before joining Red Hat, Federico worked as an Author at O'Reilly Media from 2011 onwards, where they co-authored a book on Amazon AWS System Administration. Federico also wrote extensively about public cloud, Amazon AWS, open source hardware, and Arduino. Furthermore, they served as a Columnist at Linux New Media from 2011.
From 2010, Federico was the CIO and co-founder of SOFAR Acoustics, where they oversaw software and IT architecture for the company's R&D business, defining software stack architecture to fulfill research missions.
During their tenure at Canonical Ltd. from 2011 to 2015, Federico held the position of Product Manager, Strategist - Ubuntu Server. Federico worked closely with Canonical's cloud engineering teams and founder Mark Shuttleworth to define the roadmap and execute product strategy. Federico also led new product initiatives in the server, systems management, and public cloud areas, analyzing market data to guide overall product direction.
Prior to joining Canonical, they worked at Novell, INC as a Senior Product Manager for SUSE Linux Enterprise from 2008 to 2011. In this role, they were responsible for the update architecture and tool-chain, which contributed to a business worth $150M+ in maintenance subscriptions. Federico also held various other positions at Novell, including Product Manager for SUSE Linux Enterprise and Project Manager of PM in the Open Platform Business Unit.
Before their time at Novell, Federico worked as a Network Software Architect at BL Software Systems in 2004 and as a Lecturer at Boston University from 2002 to 2004. Federico also worked as a Software Developer at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 2003 to 2003.
Federico Lucifredi completed an Advanced Certificate for Executives from the MIT Sloan School of Management between 2013 and 2018. Prior to that, they obtained a Master's degree in Software Engineering from Harvard University in 2008 and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Boston College in 2002. Alongside their formal education, Federico has also earned several additional certifications. These include Seth Godin's Marketing Workshop from Akimbo in July 2022, a Professional Certificate Program in Machine Learning & Artificial Intelligence from MIT Professional Education in February 2022, and the Prof G Certified Strategist certification from Section4 in October 2020. Additionally, they hold a Java Certified Programmer certification from Sun Microsystems and a Pragmatic Marketing PMC-VI (Product Management) certification from Pragmatic Marketing, although the exact dates of acquisition for these certifications are not provided.
