Organization for Tropical Studies
Jossy Esteban Calvo Villalobos is an experienced tropical biologist currently serving as a specialist for the Project Transition to a Green and Urban Economy (TEVU) with the United Nations Development Programme (PNUD) since May 2022. Jossy holds a Bachelor's degree in Tropical Biology and a Licentiate in Biology with an emphasis on Natural Resource Management, both from the Universidad Nacional de Costa Rica. Since 2016, Jossy has also contributed to the Fundación Rutas Naturbanas as a biologist, focusing on creating shared pathways for active mobility and environmental regeneration. Additional experience includes independent consulting in biological studies, environmental consulting for PNUD Costa Rica, and serving as an environmental educator. Jossy's expertise encompasses ecological restoration, reforestation, biological inventories, and the use of statistical software for research and project management.

Organization for Tropical Studies
The Organization for Tropical Studies (OTS) is a nonprofit consortium of over fifty universities, colleges, and research institutions from around the world. OTS was founded in 1963 with a mission “to provide leadership in education, research, and the responsible use of natural resources in the tropics.” To this end, OTS offers intensive field courses for undergraduates, graduate students, and natural resource professionals in tropical biology and related disciplines in Costa Rica and South Africa, facilitates research, participates in tropical forest conservation, maintains three biological stations in Costa Rica and conducts environmental education programs.
