Clark Mercer

Clark Mercer is the Chief Compliance Officer at Origin Bank. Clark has over 25 years of experience in the banking industry, and they have been with Origin Bank since July 2014. Prior to their current position, they were the Senior Vice President - Director of Compliance at Green Bank. In that role, they managed the accounting, financial reporting, operations, administration, and human resources divisions of the bank. Clark also performed an internal review of all divisions to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, timely financial reporting, accurate operational processing, and proper recordkeeping.

During their time at Green Bank, Clark also developed and conducted risk reviews to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Clark analyzed current risk ratings, compliance reviews, and audit procedures to identify areas that required additional review or new processes. As a result of their work, they prepared new procedures that included all required data and established a schedule and method of documenting results and formal reporting of findings to senior management and the Board of Directors.

In addition to their compliance work, Clark also improved the overall team environment within the organization. Clark established a more effective and efficient process for performing compliance reviews, internal audit processes, and reporting structures to Head Office. Clark also lead projects that included a system conversion for operations. As a result of their efforts, they improved relations with Head Office, successfully improved audit results, exam ratings from outside auditors, and the Federal Reserve exams.

Clark Mercer has a CTA Certification from the University of Notre Dame in the field of Certified Audit & Compliance. Clark also has a BA from The University of Texas at Austin in Accounting / Business. Lastly, they attended Sharpstown High School and the University of Houston.

They are on a team with Lonnie Scarborough - Chief Retail Banking Officer, Larry Ratzlaff - State President, Mississippi, and Regina McNeill - Director of Strategic Planning & Market Analytics. Their manager is Drake Mills, Chairman, President & CEO.
