Guy Vanderhaegen began the execution of his global solar energy vision in 2008. From its start in Belgium, Origis Energy has now developed 170 commercial, public sector and utility scale projects on three continents totaling over 4 GW to date of solar and energy storage capacity.
As Chief Executive Officer and President, Mr. Vanderhaegen oversees a growing team of solar industry professionals based in the U.S., Europe and Latin America. His financial acumen has resulted in the capital investment of over $2 billion from leading institutions to power the solar revolution and transform the energy landscape worldwide.
Mr. Vanderhaegen serves as a member of the board of directors for the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), America’s leading solar and storage trade association.
Prior to starting Origis, Mr. Vanderhaegen was the Chief Financial Officer, Chief Operating Officer and a Board Member for the publicly traded, Associated Weavers International, which conducted operations in seven countries. In this role he was instrumental in the successful turnaround, delisting and acquisition of the company by a larger industrial group.
For ten years, Mr. Vanderhaegen served progressively larger roles with the Belgium office of Arthur Andersen and later Deloitte. As a partner, he was responsible for the Corporate Finance department, which he co-founded. He became a Certified Public Accountant and provided financial services including mergers and acquisition (M&A) advisory, initial public offering (IPO) and fundraising advisory, due diligence, valuations, corporate recovery and strategic advice.
Mr. Vanderhaegen holds the following educational credentials; A Master’s Degree in Applied Economics from Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Advanced Corporate Finance from INSEAD and an MBA from the University of Warwick – Warwick Business School.
