Laurie Peters

Laurie Peters has over 30 years of work experience, with a strong focus on privacy, compliance, and health information management. Laurie currently holds the position of Chief Privacy Officer and Compliance Director at Orion Health, where they are responsible for leading privacy initiatives and ensuring compliance with regulations. Prior to this, Laurie served as the Global Compliance and Assurance Director at Orion Health. Laurie also worked as the Global Privacy Officer/HIE Client Director at the same company.

Before joining Orion Health, Laurie worked as the HIT Outreach Coordinator at Quality Health Associates of North Dakota. Laurie was responsible for coordinating health information technology outreach efforts. Laurie also served as the Compliance/Privacy Officer at The Koble Group, where they managed compliance and privacy functions.

Laurie has experience in coding management as well. Laurie worked as the Outpatient Coding Manager at himagine solutions inc. for a brief period of time. Additionally, Laurie has held leadership positions at Catholic Health Initiatives, Conifer Health Solutions, and Catholic Health Initiatives. Laurie served as the Divisional ICD-10 Director, Senior Director HIM (Regional Fargo Division), and Regional Director, HIM/CDM in these organizations, respectively.

Laurie's career began at Northland Healthcare Alliance, where they worked as the Regional HIM Director. Laurie provided consulting services and ensured compliance with HIPAA regulations for network hospitals. Laurie also served as the Controller at Sakakawea Medical Center.

Laurie Peters obtained a Bachelor's degree in Health Information/Medical Records Administration/Administrator from the University of Cincinnati from 2011 to 2013. Prior to that, they earned an Associate degree in Health Information Management from North Dakota State College of Science from 1983 to 1985. In terms of additional certifications, Laurie received the following: Certified in Health Privacy and Security from AHIMA in September 2019, AHIMA-Approved ICD-10-CM/PCS Trainer from AHIMA in May 2016, Certified in Healthcare Privacy and Security (CHPS) from AHIMA in October 2019, and they hold certifications as a Certified Coding Specialist and Registered Health Information Administrator from AHIMA, although specific dates are not provided.
