Laura Schmiegel has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Laura is currently serving as the Senior Vice President of Strategic Partnerships at Orion Talent, where they are responsible for aligning the firm with public, private, and nonprofit partners to maximize growth. Prior to this, Laura worked at Booz Allen Hamilton, where they created and led the first military and veteran affairs program for the global consulting and engineering firm. Laura also served as the Head of Military Community Partnerships at Booz Allen Hamilton, managing national employee volunteer programs and corporate contributions. Laura has experience in the nonprofit sector as well, having worked as the Regional Director at The Mission Continues and as a Strategic Advisor for Hiring Our Heroes at the US Chamber of Commerce Foundation. Additionally, they co-founded the national military families nonprofit, Blue Star Families, and served as a board member and Chairman. Laura also has a legal background, having worked as an Attorney at various law firms, including Marsh Law Firm and The Legal Aid Society.

Laura Schmiegel completed their BA/BA degree at Michigan State University's Honors College from 1989 to 1993. Laura then pursued their Doctor of Law (JD) degree at the University of Michigan Law School, completing it from 1993 to 1996.
