Rusty Vanneman

Rusty Vanneman, CMT, CFA, BFA™ has a diverse work experience in the field of finance. Rusty is currently serving as the Chief Investment Officer at Orion, a position they have held since March 2023. Prior to this, they were the Chief Investment Strategist at Orion from December 2020 to March 2023, and before that, they served as the Chief Investment Officer from September 2019 to December 2020.

Before joining Orion, Rusty worked at CLS Investments, LLC, where they held the role of President / Chief Investment Officer from December 2018 to September 2019. CLS Investments is one of the largest independent third-party money managers in the United States. Rusty also served as the Chief Investment Officer at CLS Investments from September 2012 to September 2019.

Rusty has also been a part of Nebraska Angels, an affiliate network of angel investors, where they served as a Member from December 2011 to December 2013.

Rusty'sprevious experiences include working at Kobren Insight Management as the Chief Investment Officer / Portfolio Manager from January 2001 to March 2012. Rusty was also a Managing Director at Kobren Insight Management, where they held various responsibilities such as managing a research team, research process, and communication with clients. Rusty was also a Senior Market Strategist at E*TRADE Capital Management from March 2010 to March 2011.

Rusty started their career at Fidelity Management & Research as a Senior Research Analyst from 1996 to 2001, where they analyzed and recommended investment managers. Prior to that, Rusty worked at Thomson Financial from 1991 to 1996, holding roles such as Managing Analyst, Product Manager, and Senior Analyst. Rusty also has experience as a Ranchhand at Thacher Cattle Company and as a Financial Representative at General Electric.

Throughout their career, Rusty has gained expertise in investment management, research analysis, market analysis, product management, and communication with clients.

Rusty Vanneman, CMT, CFA, BFA™ completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Management with a focus on Investments at Babson College from 1985 to 1988. Rusty also pursued executive education programs at MIT Sloan School of Management, Northwestern University - Kellogg School of Management, and UCLA. Additionally, Rusty Vanneman holds several certifications including Chartered Market Technician (CMT) obtained in 1999, Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) obtained in 1994, and a Behavioral Financial Advisor (BFA™) obtained from think2perform in 2022. Rusty has also obtained additional certifications in the areas of blockchain and digital assets, as well as brand strategy.
