Sam Lievens

Sam Lievens has a diverse work experience in the field of biology and scientific research. In 1995, they joined VIB - Ghent University as a PhD student, where they worked until 2001. From 2001 to 2002, Lievens served as a Scientific Expert at the Scientific Institute of Public Health. Sam then returned to VIB - Ghent University as a Post-doctoral researcher from 2002 to 2007. During their time there, they also took on the role of Technology & Business Development Manager from 2007 to 2015. In 2016, Lievens joined Orionis Biosciences as a Principal Scientist and later became the Director of Biology in January 2019.

Sam Lievens completed a Master's Degree in Bioscience Engineering with a focus on Biotechnology from Ghent University. This program lasted from 1989 to 1995. Sam then pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Sciences, specializing in Biotechnology, at Ghent University from 1995 to 2001.
