Mildred Beam provides system-level guidance concerning legal strategy, mergers and acquisition activity, regulatory compliance and governance matters, while supporting the legal affairs function of Orlando Health. She also has operational responsibility for the organization’s clinical research function.
Mildred is an accomplished attorney with significant expertise in legal issues affecting the healthcare industry, including mergers and acquisitions, governance, corporate and not-for-profit tax law, enterprise risk management, physician contracting, recruitment, self-referral, fraud and abuse, HIPAA, electronic medical records, end-of-life decisions, managed-care issues, Joint Commission preparedness and clinical research.
Mildred joined Orlando Health in 2008, after serving in key leadership positions in both hospitals and private practices. She has received numerous honors and awards, including being recognized as a Florida Super Lawyer in Health Care Law, being identified as one of “Florida’s Top Attorneys” by Florida Trend and being named one of Orlando’s “Women Who Mean Business” by the Orlando Business Journal.
She earned an accounting degree from Howard University in Washington, D.C., and a law degree from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.
