Kate Orr has a diverse work experience spanning different roles and organizations. Kate began their career as a Clerk for Hon. Glenn T. Harrell, Jr. at the Maryland Court of Appeals from 2001 to 2002. Kate then worked as an Associate at Swidler Berlin LLP from 2002 to 2006. Following that, they joined Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP as a Senior Associate, specializing in Commercial Litigation, from 2006 to 2015. Kate transitioned to the role of Practice Management Counsel at the same firm from 2015 to 2018 before becoming the Senior Innovation Counsel until 2022. Currently, they hold the position of Global Head of Practice Innovation at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP from April 2022 onwards. Alongside their legal career, they also served as an Adjunct Professor of Legal Writing and Oral Advocacy at the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law from January 2011 to June 2011.
Kate Orr received their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Psychology from St. Mary's College of Maryland in 1998. Kate then attended the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law from 1998 to 2001, earning their Doctor of Law (JD). In 2020, Kate Orr completed a Certificate in Disruptive Strategy with Clayton Christenson from Harvard Business School Online. Prior to their undergraduate studies, they attended Poolesville High School from 1990 to 1994.
