Maksim Papenkov's work experience starts with their current position as a Research Analyst (Vice President) at O'Shaughnessy Asset Management since December 2021. Prior to this role, they worked as a Research Analyst (Associate) at the same company from May 2020 to December 2021, and as a Research Analyst (Intern) from January 2020 to May 2020.
Before joining O'Shaughnessy Asset Management, Maksim worked as a Research Intern (Machine Learning) at the Air Force Research Laboratory from June 2019 to August 2019. In this role, they improved the adversarial robustness of CNNs, developed neural network software in PyTorch for GPUs with multi-processing, and utilized the Ayasdi platform for topological data analysis on image data.
Prior to their internship at the Air Force Research Laboratory, Maksim worked at the University at Albany, SUNY. Maksim served as a Senior Research Thesis from January 2018 to June 2019, where they published a paper in the Atlantic Economic Journal, presented at four academic conferences, and won the International Atlantic Economic Society 2019 Best Undergraduate Paper Award and UAlbany 2019 Presidential Award for Undergraduate Research.
Additionally, Maksim worked as a Research Assistant (Professor Yuchi Young) at the University at Albany, SUNY from April 2017 to August 2018. In this role, they co-authored three studies published/under-review with various healthcare journals, performed data analysis, conducted literature reviews, and compiled bibliographies.
Furthermore, Maksim worked as a Research Assistant (Professor Lewis Segal) at the University at Albany, SUNY from October 2016 to April 2017. Maksim published an article in an undergraduate journal, presented at two research conferences, and cleaned and analyzed a 40GB dataset of mortgage records (HMDA).
Maksim Papenkov began their education journey in 2015 at the University at Albany, SUNY, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics & Economics. During their time there, they excelled academically and graduated with Summa Cum Laude honors in 2019. Following their undergraduate studies, Maksim enrolled in Columbia University in 2019, where they pursued a Master of Arts degree in the Mathematics of Finance. After completing their studies at Columbia University in 2020, Maksim took a step further in their academic pursuits and joined Columbia Engineering, where they are currently enrolled in a part-time Master of Science program with a focus on Machine Learning. This program is scheduled to continue until 2025.
