Darlene Sao

Darlene Sao has a diverse work experience in both the private and public sectors. Darlene started their career as a Deck Watch Officer in the U.S. Coast Guard, where they served as a supervisor and ensured safe navigation. Darlene then became a Supervisory Vessel Traffic Service Management Specialist, overseeing vessel movements along the Houston/Galveston Ship Channels. Eventually, they became the Operations Officer of Vessel Traffic Service Houston-Galveston, managing a large department and handling major ship channel closures and dredging projects.

In 2020, Darlene transitioned to the Oshkosh Corporation, where they held multiple roles. As a Hiring Our Heroes Corporate Fellow, they supported talent programs and executed recruitment processes. Darlene later became a Senior Talent Acquisition Program Specialist, managing military programs, intern recruitment, and university relations. Currently, they are a Talent Acquisition Partner & Military Program Lead, leading the enterprise military talent programs, conducting recruitment, and collaborating with various departments to enhance veteran hiring and increase military representation.
