About the Role
As our in-house legal counsel, specializing in Labor and Employment Law, you will be the driving force behind strategic and practical legal solutions on employment matters. Collaborating closely with HR and leadership, you will play a vital role in supporting our rapidly growing workforce while ensuring compliance and mitigating risks.
Key Responsibilities
Legal Advisory: Provide expert legal counsel on employment contracts, policies, worker classification, executive compensation, benefits, and wage-and-hour matters, ensuring compliance with Dutch and EU labor regulations.
Policy Development: Partner with HR and stakeholders to develop and implement HR policies that align with Dutch and EU labor laws, fostering a legally compliant and adaptable workplace.
Risk Management: Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate employment law risks, including trade secrets, restrictive covenants, and workplace disputes, minimizing potential exposures.
Employee Relations: Advise management on issues like recruitment, retention, conflict resolution, and termination, ensuring fair and legally sound practices.
Dispute Resolution: Lead efforts to resolve grievances and disciplinary actions in compliance with labor laws, representing the company in court proceedings when necessary.
Regulatory Updates: Stay abreast of changes in Dutch and EU employment legislation, advising on necessary adjustments to policies and practices.
Qualifications
Educational Background: Master of Laws (LLM) degree from a recognized university.
Bar Admission: Licensed to practice law in the Netherlands.
Professional Experience: At least 5 years of experience in labor and employment law, ideally within financial services, commodities, or trading sectors.
Legal Expertise: Deep knowledge of Dutch and EU employment laws; familiarity with environmental markets is a plus.
Skills: Strong analytical, advisory, and communication skills, with proven experience managing diverse employment law issues.
Languages: Fluency in both Dutch and English.
