Sven Smets

Sven Smets has a diverse work experience spanning several industries and roles. Sven is currently serving as the Global Head of S&OP and Master Data at Oterra since October 2022. Prior to this, they worked as a Speaker at the Institute of Business Forecasting and Planning starting from May 2014.

Sven has also held various positions at PETRONAS Lubricants International, including Global Network Planning & Optimization Manager from July 2020 to October 2022, Group Process Excellence Manager (S&OP and Customer Service) from July 2019 to July 2020, and Demand Planning Manager - Global S&OP Center of Excellence (CoE) from September 2014 to July 2019. During their tenure at PETRONAS, they were responsible for defining and establishing planning standards, implementing collaborative planning applications, and contributing to supply network optimization projects.

Before PETRONAS, Sven worked as a Demand & Forecasting Specialist at Wolf Oil Corporation from September 2013 to August 2014. Sven was responsible for shaping and managing the S&OP process, ensuring supply and demand alignment, and driving cross-functional excellence in execution.

Sven also gained experience as a Supply Chain Planner at Omega Pharma from September 2012 to September 2013 and as a Material Planning professional at BASF from November 2011 to September 2012.

Prior to their roles in the manufacturing industry, Sven worked at SC Johnson as a Supply Chain Lead from January 2010 to November 2011 and as a Market Demand Planner & Special Pack Scheduler from October 2009 to November 2011.

Furthermore, Sven has experience at Black&Decker, where they served as a Demand Planner Benelux from August 2007 to October 2009 and as a Sales Coordinator from May 2006 to July 2007.

Before entering the corporate world, Sven was the Founder/Owner of Samacom from October 2002 to December 2008.

Sven Smets holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Communication from AP Hogeschool Antwerpen, which they obtained from 1998 to 2001. Prior to that, they studied Economics with Modern Languages at Sint-Lambertus Instituut Ekeren from 1995 to 1998. In 2011, Sven received a certification as a Certified Professional Forecaster from The Institute of Business Forecasting & Planning - IBF. Sven also completed the Harvard ManageMentor program at Harvard Business School. Additionally, they have acquired several additional certifications, including Leader As Coach (LAC) from CCPC Global and Culture Track Culture Change Certification and Culture Track Team Leader Culture Change from Partners In Leadership, Inc.
