Andrea L. has an extensive work experience that spans over two decades. Andrea began their career in journalism as a Journalist for the Ottawa Sun, focusing on municipal politics and general assignment. Andrea then transitioned into the field of communications, working as a Communications Advisor for the City of Ottawa.

Andrea later served as the Press Secretary for the Office of the Minister of International Trade, Government of Canada, before joining CARE Canada as the Director of Communications. In this role, they were responsible for managing all media and public activities of the organization and providing communications support to CARE Canada's international offices.

Returning to the City of Ottawa, Andrea held various positions, including Acting Chief of Corporate Communications, Manager of Corporate Communications, and eventually Director of Public Information and Media Relations. In their most recent role, Andrea served as the Acting Director of ServiceOttawa, where they provided leadership and strategic guidance.

Currently, Andrea is the Chief Communications Officer for the City of Ottawa, responsible for overseeing strategic communications, crisis and emergency communications, public engagement strategy, media relations, and financial and human resource management.

Throughout their career, Andrea has demonstrated their expertise in communication strategy, media relations, content development, and event support. Andrea has also served as the Emergency Information Officer for the City of Ottawa during major emergencies.

Andrea L. has a diverse education history. In 1996, they attended Carleton University and earned a Bachelor of Journalism degree with a specialization in Journalism. In 1998-1999, they also studied Communications at Lancaster University, although the field of study for this degree is not specified. In 2013-2014, Andrea pursued further education at York University and obtained a Masters Certificate in Municipal Leadership. Most recently, in 2019, they attended the University of Ottawa and completed a Certificate in Executive Leadership from the Telfer School of Management.
