Shanna Culhane

Acting Director, Gender & Race Equity Inclusion, Indigenous Relations And Social Development at City of Ottawa

Shanna Culhane has extensive work experience, starting in 1998 as a Residential Counsellor at TCE until 2012. From 2002 to 2012, they held various roles in the City of Ottawa, including Case Management/Project Policy Management Officer and Social Services Supervisor. From 2012 to 2016, they served as a Program Manager for Residential Services, managing a unit of 60 employees. Shanna then worked as an HR Business Partner and HR Strategist from 2016 to 2019, developing strategies and solutions for HR programs in the Community and Social Services Department. Shanna then moved on to become a Manager of HR Business Services, responsible for providing proactive advice and support in areas such as workforce planning and talent acquisition. In 2020, they briefly served as Acting Director for Gender & Race Equity Inclusion, Indigenous Relations, and Social Development before transitioning to their current role as Manager of Business Support Services in the Community and Social Services Department.

Shanna Culhane's education history is as follows. From 1996 to 1999, they attended Carleton University where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Law and Psychology. In 2001 to 2002, they attended Algonquin College of Applied Arts and Technology and completed a Social Services Worker Intensive Diploma. Lastly, in 2016 to 2018, they pursued a Masters certificate in Municipal Leadership at York University.
