Renee Johnston is a current PhD candidate in Neuroscience at the University of Ottawa, with a research focus on dimensionality reduction and machine learning analyses in cognitive intent decoding using various electrode signals in primates. Prior experience includes a significant tenure as a Software Developer and Supervisor for the Canadian Federal Government, where management of complex cyber security system developments and technical teams was pivotal. Renee also worked as a Digital Signal Processing Engineer at Mitel Networks, developing telephony algorithms and leading a team in echo cancellation technologies. Early career experience includes roles at DMR Consulting Group as a Programmer/Analyst and as a Communication Electronic Engineer Officer with the Canadian Armed Forces. Educational qualifications include a Master of Applied Science in Digital Signal Processing from Dalhousie University and a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the Royal Military College of Canada.
