Smita Pakhale is an experienced medical professional and educator currently serving as an Associate Professor at the University of Ottawa since 2008 and as a Scientist at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute since 2018. Pakhale has been a Staff Pulmonologist at The Ottawa Hospital since 2008, previously holding the position of Associate Scientist at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute from 2008 to 2018. Pakhale contributed to CF Canada as a member of the Research Advisory Board from 2014 to 2016. Educational qualifications include a Master’s degree in Epidemiology & Biostatistics from McGill University, an FRCPC in Respirology & Critical Care Medicine from the University of Manitoba, and a Fellowship in Respirology with a focus on Cystic Fibrosis and Lung Transplantation from the University of Toronto. The initial medical training was completed at Columbia University with a degree in Internal Medicine. Areas of expertise include health equity, asthma, and COPD in respiratory medicine.
