Mike Hinton

Director, Test & Certification at Otto Aviation

Mike Hinton has a diverse range of work experience in the aerospace industry. Mike is currently the Director of Test & Certification at Otto Aviation, a position they have held since January 2023. Before that, from October 2021 to February 2023, Mike worked as a Software Engineer and Aerospace Engineer in a self-employed capacity.

Prior to their self-employment, Mike worked at ONE Aviation as an Executive Director of Engineering/Advanced Development from January 2019 to February 2021. Mike also served as the EA700 Chief Engineer from June 2016 to December 2020.

Mike's professional journey started at OMNI Engineering Services, Inc., where they worked as a Software Engineer from January 2010 to December 2010. Prior to that, they were the Lead Engineer for Powerplant and Pneumatic Systems at Cirrus Aircraft from November 2006 to August 2009.

Mike's early career included a role as a Senior Engineer specializing in Aerodynamics at Cessna Aircraft Company from April 1999 to November 2006. Mike began their professional journey as a Graduate Teaching Assistant in the Wind Tunnel Lab at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University from January 1996 to January 1999.

Mike Hinton earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in 1996. Mike then went on to complete a Master of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering at the same university from 1996 to 2001. Prior to their undergraduate studies, Mike attended Penn State University in 1991-1992, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.
