Kelly Genners has a diverse work experience in the field of foundation management and community leadership. Kelly started their career at William Penn University as an Annual Fund Coordinator from October 1999 to November 2000. Kelly then joined Ottumwa Regional Health Foundation as a Foundation Director from November 2000 to May 2011. Following this, they transitioned to Ottumwa Regional Legacy Foundation, where they held multiple roles. Kelly served as the Director of Community Leadership & Grant-Making from May 2010 to November 2015 and then progressed to the position of Vice President of Programs & Initiatives from November 2015 to July 2020. Currently, they are the President & CEO of Ottumwa Regional Legacy Foundation, starting from July 2020. In their current role, they oversee the foundation's commitment to improving the health, education, and vitality of the Ottumwa area and the Wapello County region by leading and advancing promising ideas, making grants, promoting collaboration, and celebrating successes.

Kelly Genners obtained a Master of Science Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies - Community Development from Iowa State University from 2013 to 2016. Prior to that, Kelly Genners completed a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and Management, General at Buena Vista University. Additionally, Kelly Genners attended Indian Hills Community College, where the specific degree obtained is unknown. Kelly Genners also graduated from the Ottumwa Leadership Academy as part of the Class of 2013.
