Amanda is a GP with a background in anaesthetics. She studied medicine at Southampton University graduating with Honours and a distinction in clinical medicine. She spent 18 months working in Australia as a junior doctor before starting Anaesthetic training and developing a special interest in the management of chronic pain. This led to a career change to General Practice. Prior to taking up a permanent position in General Practice she spent 6 months working in rural Cambodia as part of an innovative NHS leadership scheme called Improving Global Health through Leadership development. She now works as a GP part time and is also an appraiser with the Wessex appraisal service. She is a fellow of the Royal College of Anaesthetists and a member of the Royal College of General Practitioners. She is completing a Post Graduate Certificate in Medical Education and has been selected for the upcoming Value based Healthcare Delivery course at Harvard Business School.
