Non-ferrous Facility Manager

Operations · Full-time · Austin, United States

Job description

The bulk recyclables industry is a ~$1 trillion industry – yet is largely a technological desert. Outlast is transforming the recyclables trade through technology. Our platform enables suppliers and buyers to safely and effortlessly transact their materials at the push of a button. Beyond connecting suppliers and buyers, we also provide enterprise account procurement, off-take, global logistics, financing, and quality control. As a company, we are keenly focused on optimizing the customer experience and doing good for the environment by promoting recycling.

Outlast is looking for an experienced General Manager to run a new non-ferrous facility and build their own team of 20+ employees with full P&L responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  1. Sourcing and inventory: Determine what grades of aluminum scrap and volume mix are required for the alloy chemistries the customer specifies. Oversee buyers to procure non-ferrous materials. Provide guidance to buyers on pricing for scrap yards, industrial accounts, and dealers. Ensure storage and delivery volume requirements and average cost requirements are met.
  2. Quality control: Create quality manuals for employees and suppliers. Train employees to evaluate incoming and outgoing non-ferrous materials to ensure quality. Maintain quality data on each supplier.
  3. Process and Equipment: Create and maintain the process for the facility to ensure an efficient and orderly workflow. Work with Outlast's central Operations team to procure the equipment required for the facility. Inspect the assets regularly and ensure maintenance is timely and cost-effective.
  4. Team Leadership: Hire and train a full team at the facility, starting with 20+ employees and contractors across supervising, buying, trucking, processing, quality control, and administration. Be a hands-on manager and mentor for these salaried and hourly employees.
  5. Safety and Regulatory compliance: Establish safe practices in accordance with local regulatory guidelines and OSHA. Provide safety training to all employees. Ensure proper record keeping and reporting of transactions at all times.
  6. Customer service: Be a trusted representative from Outlast in front of both enterprise buyers and scrap yard suppliers. Provide data-driven advice to customers. Oversee pickups and deliveries to provide a best-in-class customer experience on a daily basis.
  7. Product feedback: Provide targeted feedback to Outlast's engineering for further development of our proprietary platform, especially for features on managing inventory and quality. Assist in prototype testing, new feature ideation, and suggestions for enhancements.
