Devin Charles

Devin Charles has worked in the aerospace industry since 2010. In 2010, they were a Structural Design Engineer at Piper Aircraft where they were responsible for aft fuselage and tail primary structure design on Piperjet. Devin then moved to Goodrich Aerostructures in 2012, where they were a Design Engineer and facilitated design concurrence between design teams for the a320neo engine nacelles. Devin also spearheaded the development of a CATIA based interface control format and procedures. In 2012, they joined Scaled Composites, LLC as a Project Engineer for the X-57 Integration. Devin was the lead of aircraft integration of NASA X-57 electric demonstrator, created a successful proposal for aircraft integration and ground testing, and designed structural mounts for batteries, motors, power systems, and instrumentation. Devin also worked as a Design Engineer for sUAS COTS Autopilot, High Altitude Pseudo Satellite, and Stratolaunch. In 2017, they joined A³ by Airbus as a Senior Battery System Mechanical Engineer and was responsible for Vahana battery packs and battery thermal systems of UAM vehicles. Devin also enabled Vahana flight test by creating accurate multi-physics battery models and enhanced understanding of UAM battery application with multi-physics models of thermal management systems. In 2020, they joined Stratolaunch as a Staff Systems Engineer and developed concept of operations for air launched reusable hypersonic vehicle, managed the creation of high level systems requirements, and created a company engineering review process. Currently, they are a Battery IPT Lead at Overair, where they are the Battery IPT lead of lithium traction battery for prototype flight vehicle, fabrication and integration lead of propulsion test platform, and test director of propulsion test platform.

Devin Charles graduated from the Florida Institute of Technology in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering.
