Steven Johnston

Steven Johnston is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in political risk management and international development. Currently serving as Managing Director for Political Risk Insurance Portfolio Monitoring at the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation since 2007, Steven oversees a $12 billion portfolio across over 85 countries, focusing on risk assessment, client management, and claims processing. Prior to this role, Steven held a Managing Director position at OPIC, where a $23 billion portfolio was managed, driving private capital mobilization and furthering U.S. foreign policy. As a Senior Adjunct Professorial Lecturer at American University's School of International Service, Steven launched an innovative course in political risk analysis. Additional experiences include consultancy roles, guest lecturing, and directing educational initiatives abroad. Steven holds multiple degrees, including an MBA from the Thunderbird School of Global Management and an MA from The University of Texas at Austin.
