Nicolas Brown has a comprehensive work experience in various roles related to geospatial data engineering, software development, machine learning, and research. Nicolas is currently working as a Senior Geospatial Data Engineer at Overstory, where they are responsible for building, maintaining, and automating geospatial data pipelines. Prior to this, Nicolas worked at GHGSat Inc. as a Software Developer, where they started as an Analyst and later transitioned to the software development role. Nicolas specialized in writing workflows for satellite and aircraft imagery data processing. Before that, they worked as a Machine Learning and Geomatics Research Contractor at Ministère des Forêts, de la Faune et des Parcs, where they developed software using Convolutional Neural Networks to detect dead trees in aerial imagery. At McGill University, Nicolas gained research experience as an Undergraduate Research Assistant, focusing on abrupt climate change during glacial eras and using the CM2Mc general circulation model for investigations.

Nicolas Brown completed a Graduate Diploma in GIS from UQAM | Université du Québec à Montréal from 2016 to 2017. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Earth System Science from McGill University from 2011 to 2014. Their education also includes a Diplôme d'Étude Collégiales in Sciences de la Nature from Cegep de l'Outaouais, which they completed from 2009 to 2011.
