James Young Kim obtained their MBA in Strategic Marketing from USC Marshall School of Business from 2002 to 2004. Prior to that, they completed their BA with a double major in Political Science and U.S. History at UC San Diego from 1995 to 1999. In 1995 to 1997, they also studied Political Science and Government at the University of California, Berkeley, but did not obtain a degree. Additionally, they hold a New Product Development Professional Certification from the Product Development and Management Association.
