John W. Ryan has over 30 years of work experience in the field of law. John W. was the Chief Intellectual Property Counsel at Owens & Minor since May 2018. Prior to that, they served as a Partner at Several Law Firms in Washington DC for over 20 years. From 1992 to 1997, they were the Vice President & Chief Patent Counsel at IGEN International Inc. John W. began their career as an Associate at MORGAN & FINNEGAN L.L.P from 1987 to 1992.

John W. Ryan has an extensive education history. John W. attended Syracuse University College of Law, where they obtained a J.D. in Business and Commercial Litigation. John W. then pursued further education at The George Washington University Law School, earning an LL.M. in Patent & Trade Regulation. Prior to their legal studies, they completed their undergraduate degree at Bucknell University, graduating with a BA in Chemistry. John W. also studied Chemistry at the College of the Holy Cross. In addition, they pursued a graduate program in Biochemistry at Albany Medical College. Lastly, they studied Intellectual Property Law at Boston College Law School and Biological and Biomedical Sciences at The Johns Hopkins University.
