Matt Vestal

Matt Vestal is an experienced software engineer with a career spanning from 2004 to the present. In 2004, they began as a Software Engineer at IBM, where they developed an enterprise web application and created online educational and promotional materials. Matt then became a Software Engineer, Co-op at the same company. From 2011 to 2016, they worked at Vrbo as a Staff Software Engineer, developing key aspects of the shopping experience and creating libraries for sharing business logic, object models, and UI elements. From 2016 to 2019, they worked at Facebook as a Front End Engineer, leading the migration of the "Saved" tab of the Facebook app from native iOS and Android to React Native and collaborating with product managers, designers, and user researchers to build exploratory features and surfaces. Since 2019, they have worked at Instagram as a Frontend Engineer, building the live video viewer for desktop web and implementing IGTV video upload resume and chunking. In 2022, they will become the Owner of their own software engineering business.

Matt Vestal attended North Carolina State University from 2002 to 2006, where they earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. Matt then attended the Texas McCombs School of Business from 2009 to 2010, where they obtained a Master of Science in Technology Commercialization.
