William I. Koch is the founder of Oxbridge Academy, and has donated over $100 million since the school’s inception in 2011. He is also the founder of Oxbow Carbon LLC, one of the world’s largest recyclers of refinery and natural gas byproducts. He is recognized as an entrepreneur, champion sailor (winner of the ’92 America’s Cup and four world championships), art collector and philanthropist. He is a graduate of Culver Military Academy. He attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he received his bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees in chemical engineering.
He serves on numerous local and national boards, including the Palm Beach Police Foundation, the Museum of Fine Arts, University Hospital, the Smithsonian Museum for American Art, and the President’s Circle for the National Academy of Arts, Science and Medicine. He is passionate about his mission to help less fortunate children receive a high-level education. In addition to his commitment to Oxbridge Academy, he has contributed money, time, and energy to help individuals, teachers and classrooms get the support they have needed. He has donated musical instruments and tutoring help to disadvantaged children in Palm Beach County, computers and software for children with learning disabilities, and funded science programs around the world.
