Bethany Lodge

Bethany Lodge has a diverse work experience spanning various fields. Bethany started their career as a Work Experience Student at Pfizer, where they gained insights into the biological and chemical research departments. Bethany then worked as a Work Experience Student at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, assisting with histopathology rotations and handling kidney tissue samples. Bethany later joined Exeter iGEM as a Synthetic Biologist, participating in the International Genetically Engineered Machine competition and focusing on genetically modifying E. coli bacteria. Currently, they are employed at Oxford Nanopore Technologies, where they have held multiple roles since 2014. Bethany is currently serving as a Senior Scientist and is the VolTRAX Chemistry Lead. In their career at Oxford Nanopore Technologies, they have contributed significantly to the development and application of VolTRAX, a portable sample preparation device for Nanopore sequencing. Overall, Bethany has a strong background in scientific research and engineering in both academic and industrial settings.

Bethany Lodge attended Tonbridge Grammar School from 2004 to 2011. After completing their secondary education, they enrolled at the University of Exeter, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BSc) with Honours in Human Biology, a degree they completed between 2011 and 2014. Following their undergraduate studies, Bethany pursued further education at the Academy of Executive Coaching, focusing on executive coaching.
