Gerard Coyne

Gerard Coyne has extensive work experience in the biotechnology industry. Gerard began their career at Teagasc as a Walsh Fellow and pursued a Ph.D. in the field. After completing their Ph.D., they joined Source BioScience as a DNA Sequencing Scientist, where they worked for over a year. Gerard then progressed to the role of DNA Sequencing Team Leader - Ireland at the same company. In 2014, Coyne joined Oxford Nanopore Technologies as a Technical Application Specialist and later advanced to the position of Senior Technical Applications Specialist. Gerard then took on the role of Technical Services Manager, Europe before becoming a Senior Manager in the Applied Markets division. Currently, Coyne holds the position of Associate Director, Commercial Development, Applied Markets at Oxford Nanopore Technologies.

Gerard Coyne completed their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Molecular Biology at University College Dublin from 2007 to 2011. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Biotechnology from the University of Galway, where they studied from 2002 to 2006. Coyne completed their Leaving Certificate at Castlerea Community School from 1997 to 2002.
