Stephen R. Murphy

Stephen R. Murphy serves as the Senior Pastor at Okemos Church of the Nazarene since January 2020, where responsibilities include leading and shepherding the congregation. Additionally, Stephen has been an Advanced Certified Grief Recovery Specialist at GRIEF RECOVERY INSTITUTE, LLC since October 2019, facilitating Grief Recovery seminars. Stephen's background in education includes a position as an adjunct professor at Jackson College since September 1989, where expertise is shared through a 40-hour Instructional Skills Workshop focused on effective teaching practices. Stephen also holds a TESL, TESOL, TOEFL certification from Oxford Seminars, and is currently enhancing teaching skills with additional coursework. Academically, Stephen is well-qualified, having earned a Master and Doctor of Church Ministry from Andersonville Theological Seminary, along with certifications in Bible Study Methods and degrees in music from Spring Arbor University and Jackson College.
